"I'm not entirely sure yet what drives me toward this series. The story is still being written. Puzzle is about people — but not portraits. I don't like portraits where the subject looks straight into the camera. It feels invasive. It closes things off. A hand, a shoulder, the angle of a wrist — these details open the imagination rather than close it. We find ourselves wondering: who is this person? What were they thinking? I prefer the question to the answer. The viewer finishes the photograph. I just provide the pieces."
